Meet The Therapist
Alyssa Gravel, LMSW
Our relationships can be some of the most meaningful parts of our lives—and also some of the most challenging. In therapy, I offer a grounded, curious, and collaborative space where we can slow things down, look beneath patterns that keep repeating, and better understand what is happening underneath the conflict. Together, we’ll work toward relationships that feel more secure, connected, and authentic.
About Alyssa
Hi, I’m Alyssa (she/her), a Licensed Master Social Worker. I earned my MSW from UCLA, where I focused my clinical training on mental health and psychotherapy.
My path to this work has taken me through schools, community-based programs, and inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. I have worked with children and families, adolescents and young adults, and adults navigating complex mental health concerns. I also completed extensive clinical training with veterans at the VA, providing individual therapy and supporting clients and their families through periods of significant change and distress.
Across these settings, I became especially interested in the ways our relationships shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Whether I’m working with a couple caught in a painful cycle, a young person figuring out who they are, or a family struggling to understand one another, I’m interested in helping individuals, couples, and families understand not only what is happening, but how to find healing, understanding, and stability.
My background in yoga and mindfulness also influences the way I think about therapy. I value slowing down, becoming curious about our internal experiences, and creating enough space to respond intentionally rather than simply reacting to what we feel.

Working with Alyssa
Whatever brings you to therapy, you can expect me to be curious, engaged, and collaborative. I won’t assume that I know your experience better than you do. My role is to help you notice patterns that can be difficult to see from inside them, ask questions that help us go a little deeper, and work alongside you toward meaningful change. Therapy with me is a place to understand yourself and the people you love more fully—and to begin practicing new ways of relating to both.
My therapy practice is grounded in my work with individuals, relationships, and families as they navigate challenging patterns of conflict, disconnection, or misunderstanding in their relationships with themselves and others. You may find yourself having different versions of the same argument over and over, struggling to communicate what you actually need, or wondering why conversations escalate so quickly despite wanting things to be different.
Rather than focusing on who or what is “right,” I’m interested in helping you understand and reconstruct patterns that support cycles of conflict. Often, what looks like anger, withdrawal, criticism, or defensiveness on the surface is connected to something more vulnerable underneath. Drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we’ll work to understand those patterns, communicate differently within them, and strengthen the sense of safety and connection in your relationships.
In my work with individuals, I especially enjoy supporting adolescents and young adults through anxiety and major life transitions. These are often times when questions about identity, relationships, independence, and what you want your life to look like can feel especially present. We might work together to understand the thoughts and patterns that keep you feeling stuck, make room for difficult emotions without letting them dictate your choices, or explore how past experiences continue to shape the way you understand yourself and relate to others. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and psychodynamic approaches to balance practical strategies for navigating what you’re experiencing now with a deeper understanding of where those patterns may come from.
